COVID19 & Life Alone

I’m so surprised at how quickly the COVID19 virus is spreading.  Just a week ago we had 600 cases.  Yesterday we have 6000 and now over 10k in the US.  I think the thing that surprises me the most is that there are now no public Masses in the state of Ohio.  I mean, I’m Catholic & middle aged.  I’ve NEVER been told that my obligation to attend Mass has been eliminated! I used to hem and haw about getting up and dressed.  There were so many choices on when and where to go.  No there is no where.  I pray I learn this lesson quickly and never take Mass for granted again.  The pictures are of my brother and his family and I visiting via social distancing lol.  I miss seeing them.  I know I annoy them so I do try to not call, visit or text even though I’m sure they don’t believe the later lol.  But it’s been particularly challenging now.  Work is stressful and I come home late and alone.  I can’t go out to eat or to the movie and have even casual conversation with strangers.  Worse, I can’t shop!   I confess, I did do big shopping tonight at Meijer. I have more than enough food for myself as well as my brother’s family for at least a month.  I may run out of fresh things but I felt the need to stock up.  I’m worried I’m going to get sick.  I’m busy but not active.  I’m worried in the sense that I don’t have a reason to live other than for living’s sake if I became ill and I know I’m not spiritually in a place that would allow me to be with God.  When I was in a fire a few years ago my brother and his family took me to their house for the night from the hospital and I felt so at peace with people who cared about me.  So much that I didn’t mind there was no bed those normal comforts you think you need.  Sigh, we’ll see.  I better go inside and put these groceries away and let the poor dog out.

I AM STILL ALIVE

Wow!  Last post was 10 years ago!  I just loved seeing my nephew when he was little!  What a wonderful trip down memory lane. ❤️

J is 13 years old now and because of this I must apologize to both my parents for everything I ever did as a teenager.  Youzers!  I won’t embarrass him by saying anything here but I can only imagine what joy, annoyances, rudeness, and attitude I put my poor, loving and understanding Parents through!  In hind and forward sight I also apologize for anything I have or will do as well!

"I love you too Auntie"

Such a cool weekend with J! Sunday we went to a church festival and it was actually a festival, not some glorified craft fair.

I was amazed! J rode on one of those flying spacecraft rides for kids, a spinning strawberry and bounced in a bouncy castle! Auntie went on the flying spacecraft ride even though J said he wanted to do it himself. I just couldn't bring myself to let my 3 yo nephew go on a ride that goes in the air by himself. :)

Once we were in the air J did fine and I remembered how much I disliked rides. It seemed to be going slow on the ground but once in the air it was going way to fast and all that up and down, yuck! I got so dizzy and they set these up for little kids! I am such a wouse.

J loved playing the games, they were the typical ones but run by the local Catholic high school kids. J won a fish! He named it "Orange" and calls it "Orange or Orangie". Orange stayed at auntie's house - I just couldn't through that loop to my sister-in-law!

He also one a blown up Blue Clues Blue and a LARGE inflatable sword that he LOVED!!!

I can't believe how much his speech has increased. In May he was just putting two word phrases and now he has blossomed and speaks in sentences. Not many irregular, mostly noun-verb-descriptor but he is doing so great!

When I put him to bed last night, I said, as I always do, "I love you J" and J actually said "love you to Auntie S"! and gave me a hug and a kiss!

How cool and wonderful is this!!!

J Doing Somersaults

Nephew J doing somersaults!
He had a lot of fun today (I think at least).

He made 'pannie cakes' with auntie. His was in the shape of Mickey Mouse and had chocolate on it! I made up for it by dicing up a banana (it had chocolate sauce on it too however!) ha ha

After a run to the bank we were driving to go to one of the local festivals and saw the local fire department had a safety awareness day. J was real excited until he got up closer to one of the trucks and then didn't want to do ANYTHING! After about 20 minutes of walking around, however, the child was over stimulated by going in and playing in all the trucks. He even got to use the fire hose twice!! Once with auntie, and once with a real fireman! He got a 'jr' fireman's plastic hat and you would have thought it was the second coming! He of course, wore it backwards!

Auntie, for some reason, perhaps because J was ill the night before so she didn't sleep a lot, by the time we were done with the firetrucks had a worsening migraine.... I told J and said that auntie really needed him to help me by being quite. Do you know that wonderful son of my brother and sister-in-law sat on my lap and petted the dog for AN HOUR! He didn't ask for toys, books or anything. He didn't even sleep.

And when auntie could open her eyes and told him that she still felt bad and was going to put him in his room so that he could play (with the baby gate up between the door frame) he said ok and played. He could see my bed and the dog so I think that helped. Even more, I checked on him physically every hour (I could hear him) and took him to the bathroom and got him a drink but it took 3 hours for my headache to go away. He played that WHOLE TIME!

In the end, I told him he was a great boy and helped his auntie a lot. He said 'yes, J is a good doctor'! His reward was to call grandpa, pick green beans and ok I know food isn't a reward but he got a chocolate ice cream cone for a reward too!

We also colored, got wet in the sprinkler in both the front and back yards and had fresh picked green beans and mac n' cheese for supper. I had gotten him McDonald's for lunch but he barely ate 1/2 of the hamburger and almost none of the fries!

Boy can he drink, though! He had milk for breakfast but I think he had 8 to 10 sippy cups of 3/4 water, 1/4 juice today!

He never asked to go to the potty. Perhaps auntie's house is just different from mommy and daddy's but whenever I asked him if he had to go he did go in the potty. My sis said that he might only use 1-3 pull ups a day but he totally drenched I think 6.

Well, I realize I'm ending this note on "pee" but oh well! We'll see what tomorrow brings!! I pray for no more headache's!!! I'm only 1 pill away from my max dose w/i 24 hours!
